CMP Technology's Sys Admin magazine, the journal for Unix and Linux systems administrators, today announced the first Sys Admin Technical Conference will take place May 7-8 at the Sheraton Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

Santa Clara University in California next week will host a symposium on open-souece software. Titled "Virtues and Vices of Open Source Software," the symposium will focus on issues surrounding commercial and open-source software development.

IBM Open Source Exec To Speak at UNC today

Bob Sutor, IBM’s vice president for open source and open standards, will deliver an address at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Wednesday, March 14.

Sutor is involved in such projects as the Open Document Format Standard, Eclipse, WebSphere, and Second Life, which is IBM’s “virtual world” project.

The program is set for 3 p.m. at 116 Murphey Hall on the UNC campus.

Linux Networx Conference for Aerospace Solutions

Linux Networx, The Linux Supercomputing Company, today announced that it is hosting its third annual Linux Networx Conference for Aerospace Solutions the week of March 12th. Linux Networx, along with high-performance computing (HPC) industry leaders AMD and Computational Engineering International (CEI), will present educational seminars on how aerospace companies can leverage the latest HPC solutions and technologies to accelerate designs and product time-to-market while increasing supercomputing efficiency.
