Logitech G840 XL Gaming Mousepad Review
Whether you’re using it for work or play, our hands ordinarily cradle a mouse on a daily basis. A laser mouse tends to be accurate on nearly on all types of surfaces, whereas an optical mouse may face difficulties with precision tracking on black or shiny surfaces and if you're still using a mechanical mouse, well, we can no longer be friends.
Regardless of what type of peripheral you're using the Logitech G840 XL Gaming Mousepad provides an optimal sensor surface along with physical comfort. Let's take a look.
The Logitech G840 XL Gaming Mousepad is flexible and comes rolled-up in a paper tube which can be re-used for storage or transportation. Fresh out of the package I've noticed a slight rubber odor, but this will dissipate within a week of use.
Constructed from light-weight materials the topside is covered with a black cloth which is low-friction, soft anti-fatigue cushioning for comfort and provides optimal sensor imagery. Towards bottom right corner of the pad is a matte black Logitech logo for some modest branding.
The entire underside is a low-profile, 3mm rubber which is blue in colour and textured to keep the pad stationary, preventing slippage when placed. Another observation is once laid flat there is some slight waviness towards the edges of the pad, these will mostly straighten out on their own after some usage.
For those of you fussy about colour scheme aesthetics, please note that the blue rubber can be seen from all sides.
Given the material composition, I'm going to assume G840 XL can be wiped down with a damp cloth without damaging the pad. This of course is advantageous as dust will become visible on the black surface.
Designating the G840 XL as a mousepad is somewhat misleading, this thing is huge and more a like a mouse doormat. Okay, that may be a bit of an exaggeration too, but the overall surface area measures 35.43"L x 15.75"W. More than enough room for both a keyboard and mouse, with no gaps — just one large uniform operating surface.
Longevity of the Logitech G840 XL Gaming Mousepad is questionable given the tangible construction, however, the product is backed by a 1 year warranty.
