Open Source Veteran Tapped to Expand Zenoss Community and Forge Partnerships.
Annapolis, MD — November 7, 2006 — Zenoss, Inc., a developer of open source enterprise network and systems monitoring software, today announced that industry veteran Mark Hinkle has joined its executive team as Vice President of Community and Business Development. Mr. Hinkle brings extensive open source business experience and insight into open source business models, having served as an executive at two commercial open source companies, the Editor-In-Chief of Enterprise Open Source magazine, Co-founder and President of the Open Management Consortium, and author of the book Windows to Linux Business Desktop Migration (Thomson/Delmar Learning 2006).
As a member of the Zenoss management team, Mr. Hinkle will drive the company’s mission to deliver the world’s most complete open source monitoring platform. He will focus on developing the infrastructure for the Zenoss open source community, facilitating dialogue with open source developers, and developing partnerships with complimentary open source organizations.

Throughout Mr. Hinkle’s career, he has managed the development of numerous projects that leveraged open source technologies to provide enterprise infrastructure. Mr. Hinkle has served as an executive for Emu Software—an open source configuration management provider; Vice President of Business Development for Win4Lin—a provider of Windows virtualization software for Linux hosts; and Director of Technical Support for EarthLink (MindSpring). During Mr. Hinkle’s tenure, MindSpring was recognized by PC World magazine as having the best technical support in the industry and received J.D. Power's highest overall customer satisfaction rating. Mr. Hinkle will continue to serve as the Editor-In-Chief of Enterprise Open Source magazine.
