Curtin undergrad wins open source contest

Curtin University of Technology Sarawak undergraduate Lai Chiong Ching emerged winner of the Sarawak open source competition with his entry File Injection and Retrieval Application Version 2 (FIRA2).

Lai, who spent three months working on the software, received a cash prize of RM6,000 for his effort.

He described FIRA2 as an encryption application which compresses and hides text messages inside bitmap image files.
